Auschwitz - My Inspiration - vernissage of the exhibition of drawings by the artist Paweł Warchoł, residing and working in Oświęcim.

The Rescued - The Rescuers; Consideration of Memory - lecture by Marian TURSKI.



Thursday, January 14th, 6:00 p.m.
The Portraitist - screening of the documentary film directed by Ireneusz DOBROWOLSKI, TVP 2005., 52 min. After the screening, meeting with Wilhelm BRASSE moderated by Leszek SZUSTER, Director of the International Youth Meeting Center in Oświęcim. It is a story of Wilhelm BRASSE, pre-war photographer- portraitist from Katowice, who in August 1940 was sent in one of the first transports to Auschwitz, camp no. 3444. In the camp, he documented life until the liberation. After the war, due to personal trauma, he was never able to take pictures again.



Monday, January 18th, 6:00 p.m.
The Doctor?s Birthday - In Memory of Marek EDELMAN - meeting with Paula SAWICKA and Tomasz FIJAŁKOWSKI. Screening of the film from the series Conversations at the Turn of the Century with Dr. Marek Edelman.



Tuesday, January 19th 6:00 p.m.
LITERARY PROGRAM
History of Cinema, Volume I, Silent Movies - promotion of the book edited by Tadeusz LUBELSKI, Iwona SOWIŃSKA, Rafał SYSKO, published by Universitas. Meeting moderated by the editor Roman WŁODEK.



Wednesday, January 20th, 6.00 p.m.
LITERARY PROGRAM
The Pentateuch of Isaac, promotion of the book by Angel WAGENSTEIN (Bulgaria) and meeting with the author, moderated by Kamelia MINCZEWA; organized jointly with Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Warsaw.



Thursday, January 21st, 6:00 p.m.
Passanger - screening of the feature film directed by Andrzej MUNK, 1963, 70 min., based on the radio drama by Zofia Posmysz.

Liza was a supervisor at the concentration camp in Oświęcim. She engaged in a peculiar game - a battle with Marta, a Polish inmate, whom she in turns humiliated and protected, elevated and degraded.... An accidental meeting with a passenger on board of a transatlantic evokes in her a series of reminiscences from the period of her life she thought had been closed for ever.



Monday, January 25th, 6:00 p.m.
Theatre in the Bible - God as a Director - lecture by Prof. Shimon LEVY of Tel-Aviv University (lecture in English).



Wednesday, January 27th, 6:00 p.m.
INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST DAY
Psalms - media performance by Mateusz JAROSZ (music, animation) and Jakub KOSINIAK (recitals). Magdalena ŁUKAWSKA (soprano), Agnieszka MONASTERSKA (alto), Tomasz JAROSZ (bass) participated in the recordings.



Thursday, January 28th, 6.00 p.m.
Monument - Hospice for the City of Oświęcim - meeting with the initiator of the project, August KOWALCZYK, former inmate of KL Auschwitz, camp no. 6804, after the war a renowned actor and director.
